SMT Inductor vis. Manually Wound Air Core Coil

Hi all,
I’m building some rf pre-amps but have one or two problems.

Should I use SMT inductors or Coil inductors in my tank circuit?
I used SMT before and it gave unexpected results!

Cheers,
Xanan

ID'ing a few SOIC ICs

Hi.
Two SOIC ICs in a switched power supply, 100-240 VAC -> 18.5 VDC

1: 8 pin, seems to have a ST logotype, marked "M103AI" and "K131"

2: 16 pin, ST logotype, marked "LITEON99" and "90E127".

One (or both ?) "should" be a switched power supply controler…

Any info on these are welcome !

need RFID advice

Hello,

I am a student at Penn State University doing a senior design on RFID
systems.  I need as much advice as I can get about RFID.  I need to
purchase a developers kit to run tests and experiment with but I am on
a limited budget and need a low cost RFID developer/evaluation kit.  I
was also wondering if there are companies that offer educational
discounts on these kits.  I am new to this technology, so any
information about how to obtain a low cost kit or any information at
all will be greatly appreciated.

                                            Thanks, Luke Rex

Brand New 486SLC CPU's on Factory Trays For Sale Cheap!!!!

I have a bunch of Brand New 486SLC CPU’s on Factory Trays for sale on Ebay. Bidding starts at only $0.25 each! Although most of the parts that can still be found are pulls, these "hard to find" parts are actually new and factory packed.

Here’s the site on Ebay:

In Need of an Electronic Valve

I am trying to find an electronic valve that is very small. I am
getting together the parts for a project that will connect to a
kitchen sink faucet I am trying to find an electronic valve that will
be small enough to control waterflow through a kitchen sink but is not
so huge as to make the attachment, when completed, a monster in size.
I would really appreciate if anyone can point me in the direction of
some valves like this, or at least to some companies or websites that
have a selection of electronic valves so that I can do some further
research.
Appreciate the help, thanks.

Regarding semiconductor equivalence…

Hi. This has confused me for some time now. Let’s say I have x number
of general purpose NPN BJTs (or any other semiconductor device). Their
model #s seem strange (to me) and are relatively hard to find. So I
checked their NTE equivalents through their catalog, and they’re all
the same: NTE123AP. Now, the 2N3904 (which I’ve got plenty of) also
has the SAME NTE code! Does this mean all models are equivalent? Can I
just substitute the 2N3904? Or does NTE make their devices superior to
a whole set of devices to increase compatibility?

Someone please help. I’m tired of looking for odd models of
semiconductor devices. And thanks for taking the time to read this
boring letter. :)

dead bios

hi all,

I tried to flash my (award) bios using an award flash program with the
appropiate bios image file, but it crashed(???) while writing the image, and
now the system won’t boot anymore. I can’t use the bootblock wich the bios
offers cause it requires an isa video card and the board doesn’t have any
isa slots. Can I use an eprom programmer to reprogram the bios? (it’s an
plcc type bios)
And what type of eprom programmer do I need for that?

thanks,
Thijs

Oscillator Modules

I have several 20 MHz oscillator modules.

Manufacturer is CTI, frequency is 20 MHz, case is metal DIL14/4, model
is K1602.

I would be grateful for information on these modules, ie, are they
TXCO or OXCO, supply voltage and pin-out.

This information is not available from CTI web-site.

Thanks

Mike Newman
