What are the advantages of using a relay instead of an SCR or triac?

Having surfed for a datasheet for at Mitsubishi powerblock called M57741,
all I found was "pay-only" info.

I would like to know the SPECs of MA4060A sourced from VARACTOR.
This is most alike SV88 of NEC, atud type package. Would like to
use this instead of SV88 series.
Or please tell me where the INFO is.

I found some 2N3053s on Ebay, but the seller only accepts GBP (I can’t
blame him since the conversion cost is exorbitant).  I don’t want to
bid on something that will cause me to have to go to the bank and get
a M.O. for GBP or some other hassle.  Does Ebay and Paypal do
conversion to GBP?  

Might there be any customs hassle with these kinds of parts?  Yeah, I
know that shipping might be a bit slow or cost a bit more but that
didn’t concern me.  Thanks.

I bought some white LEDs from Hong Kong, no problem but I did have to
go to the P.O. and sign for them, no big thing.

I am tying to remember if there was/is a component like the SCR that will pass
a signal when there is no voltage at the gate.

It’s been a while.

Any idea?

I saw a bag of 1000 BC338 transistors on Ebay about ready for the
bidding to end, and they were going for only $11.50, so I bid on them
thinking that surely someone would outbid me.  But they didn’t!  So
now I’m the buyer of 1000 for only $12.50 plus $4 s&h, about a penny
and a half each.  Like I now have a lifetime supply of BC338s.  Said
they were new, and pic showed them in a labeled bag, but they might
still be picked over and have low gain or whatever.

I have to figure out how to use these up in my LED flashlights.  
They’re about the same as a 2N4401, except capable of a bit more
collector current.  The BC337s I’ve been using work well, so I think
I’ll have a lotta uses for them.  Oh, well..
