If Current = True Then Close This Circuit

I am basically looking for a way to detect a small current that was
intended to turn on a piezoelectric buzzer and if it senses a current
there, to close a circuit on the same board.

You know…no matter how novel or noble my ideas are…they always
sound like I’m trying to make a freaking bomb…

Transistor base as a diode

Hello,

I have seen several schematics where a transistor base has been used as
a diode where the base is also short circuited to the collector (NPN).
Please can anybody tell me why this is done and what the benefits are?

Many thanks in advance.

LM358 too slow!

Something I want to build with an OP-amp needs the "ground sensing" inputs
like the 358 but needs power bandwidth up to about 50kHz, and preferably
better O/P drive capability – any suggestions?

TIA.

Rheostat needed

Hi!
I need to find a rheostat for my sons boyscout project… he needs
a rheostat that will handle 2w ohms at 200 watts. If anyone knows
anyone who has one and would like to donate it or sell it at a
reasonable price please contact me.

Looking for a TOP243Y or TOP244Y Switching regulator for PSU

I have a switch mode power supply with a fried TOP243Y ‘TOPSwitch-GS’
switching regulator.

Farnell seem to be the only supplier in the UK, but no longer stock
this part or any variation of it.

If you have a TOP243Y (30W) or TOP244Y (50W version) you could sell me,
I’d like to hear from you ;)

They are in a TO220 type package with 6 staggered legs and are seen a
lot in small SMPS.

Many thanks guys

HELP!!1 Need some info on a CLA53047BW IC.

I’m trying to repair a Wavetek 395 programmable arbitrary function
generator.  Its local oscillator and PLL circuit are running, and
I have supply voltages, but it has no clock pulse…and no service
manual has ever been released for this item.

Without a manual and very little knowledge of the many and varied ICs
that are in this unit, I’m almost stabbing in the dark, but I do
know that the clock line is dead.   The clock signal appears to be
coming from (if it were working) a chip identified as  GPS  CLA53047BW .

I can’t find ANY info on this part except some in undecipherable foreign
languages that my browser isn’t even supporting,  via a Google search.

If you have any info on this IC and its function, pinout, and other
relevant data,  it would be nice if you were to provide it to me.

Contact me directly at johnso…@cfl.rr.com  if you have this info.

Thanks.

Unijunction transistor–is interchanging of B! and B2 oK and why.

I am returning to the old days trying to use a unijunction transistor for a
simple relaxation oscillator. B2 appears to be usually connected to the
case.

Considering how a UJT is constructed, it should make little difference which
polarities are used across B2-B2 except for what should be minor detail. Is
that so? Is power dissipation or shielding affected by having B2 connected
to the case?

Again, the UJT and JFET seem to be of similar construction except for
possibly the heft of the main N channel. Can a JFET work like a UJT?

LM317KTE? (Texas Instruments).

The LM317KTE is like the D2-pak, but only 2mm thick and still able to
supply over 1.5 amps, which is why I want some. Digi-key have them, but not
in stock, and to get a cost effective price I’d have to buy 500 of them!

It doesn’t help that they’re not recommended for new designs, are
discontinued by Texas Instruments. Or does it? Maybe someone has some and
might sell me some? Payment would ideally be made by Paypal. Quantity
wanted can be variable, so long as the quantity, nor the cost, is too high.

An alternative I can use is a smaller D-pak device that will supply 1.5
amps or more. I don’t think there is one, but I could easily be wrong. The
SOT-223 types won’t do, as I can’t mount them to a chassis or panel.
