I´m interested in ic´s to be used as power drives for step
motors.
The drive must handle an 8A current flow.
This is important for my last year project at university.

I don’t know if this will help but I’m designing a board to drive a couple
of steppers from a computer. For stepper control I’m using a L297 which is
connected to a L298 driver. Both are sold by SGS-Thomson.
