Hello!
newbie here – please forgive any of my failings of netiquette…
I am desperately seeking information on the Intel/Signetics 8049
microcontroller. I was recently given the assignment of obtaining
documentation and generating code for a system designed around this
chip.
I am looking for sources for a cross compiler/disassembler/development
system for a PC and/or a method that will allow me to read the code
out of an existing processor with the security bit set.
Inherited this nightmare from the previous engineer who left no
documentation or source code.
I am aware that this processor is no longer being manufactured, a
redesign is in progress based on a more current processor. This is a
band aid to keep things running until the new design is complete.

there are some tools for the 8048 available at simtel (don’t remember the full adress).
I don’t know the differences between the 8048/49 but this may help you.

Thanks to all who responded. Situation now ‘reasonably’ under
control. I must say that as a first experience, I am pleased and
impressed by the calibre of folk who frequent this group. I hope I
can be of some assistance to one of you at some point in the future.
