I’m upset at HP for similar reasons.  The HP scanner I have at work was
only two years old when I tried to move it to a different computer, and
ran into problems.

Turns out that HP had decided that they weren’t going to support it
anymore.  ONLY TWO YEARS OLD!!

I found out quickly that not only had they stopped offering free tech
support for it, but they had also (this is the stupid part) REMOVED ALL
of their tech support documents regarding the scanner from their
automated fax system.  I mean, what would it have hurt to leave the tech
support documents on the fax system?!?

The only option they left was a 1-900 call to a special ‘obsolete
product’ support line, which we all know, can rack up over $100 quick on
your credit card when you get some idiot tech who doesn’t know a thing
about scanners, just knows how to look up (poorly) documents in their
tech support database.

Turns out it was really just a simple setting that had to be made — one
that for some reason, wasn’t documented in the manual!!

Believe me when I say that I gave HP a piece of my f*!^%# mind.

I do some computer consulting on the side from time to time.  Also, a
lot of people ask me for advise when purchasing hardware.  I used to
recommend HP, even though they were (and still are) overpriced, simply
because they were a major company with great support.

Since that has apparently changed, I don’t recommend HP, anymore.

You might want to try http://www.bulbdirect.com.  They used to be called
PSC Lamps, and their catalog lists almost any lightbulb you could ever want.
I’ve ordered from them before and been quite satisfied.  I have no other
connection to the company.

BTW, this is not an official HP response, just my own personal ramblings.

I wanna tell them that this type of crap is typical of low quality
budget scanners that are flooding the market. I expected better of HP.

Am I also going to get the same type of service on the HP printer I
